Welcome to Skimm Tested, where we put products to the test and then give 'em a report card. (Check out all of our tried-and-tested faves here.)

The assignment…

To see if the Tushy Classic 3.0 bidet ($99) should become a permanent fixture in your bathroom — as well as whether the brand’s related accessories, like the Tushy Ottoman ($74) and the Tushy Stand ($64), are worth your cash.

Tushy Classic 3.0 Bidet

Straight A’s in…

  • Ease of installation. If, like us, you have no prior plumbing experience or knowledge, you won’t need to break a sweat — promise. It took us under 15 minutes to get the bidet up and running. No electricity is required, it fits on nearly every toilet seat, and the water source is the same one that supplies water to your sink, FYI. (Note: First you’ll have to determine what type of connection you have. If you’ve got a rigid pipe instead of a flexible steel hose connecting your water source to your toilet, you’ll need to go ahead and grab this $6 hose.)

  • Adjustability. Using the Tushy Classic 3.0 is simple as pie, and the adjustable knob releases water at a light, comfortable pressure to start, all the way up to a stronger stream if that’s more your jam. Plus, it’s designed with a convenient self-cleaning nozzle.

  • Aesthetics. This bidet has a minimalist, clean design that looks sleek in any bathroom. It currently comes in seven colorways (mostly white with different-colored knobs) and two limited-edition ones, including blue and black.

Room for growth…

  • Kid-proof-ness. It’s quite simple for a small child to turn on and play with, so you’ll have to make sure your little one isn’t near it unsupervised if you don’t want your bathroom turning into a water park.

  • Price. There are plenty of other simple bidets on the market for half the price or less (though admittedly not quite as chic).

  • Durability of lettering. One HQ’r noted that when she cleans the side bar with the control knob, anything as strong as a Lysol Disinfecting Wipe starts to erase the printed words a bit.

Plays well with...

  • Anyone who’s never installed a bidet before.

  • Those who want to reduce their use of toilet paper. (Using any bidet will help cut down your TP usage, which we are here for.)

  • People who want a more hygienic bathroom experience.

How we did our homework…

  • We’ve used the Tushy bidet nearly every day for years, and installed it on more than one toilet. We took into consideration how easy the device is to set up and how it holds up after longtime use, both functionally and aesthetically. Additionally, we incorporated anecdotal evidence from several other HQ’rs who’ve used it regularly over the past few years.

Footnotes…

  • $99 (and a $6 hose if you need it)

  • Comes in nine colorways

  • Also available in a  “Spa” option ($129) that uses warm water as well as cold

  • 60-day risk-free trial

Tushy Ottoman Toilet Stool

Straight A’s in…

  • Comfort. The slight curve of this toilet stool makes sitting on it even with bare feet quite comfortable. It’s also available in two different heights. And let’s just say that the ergonomic design helps get the job done.

  • Aesthetics. Like their bidet, the Tushy Ottoman has a minimalist-chic design, available in white with either white or bamboo legs. It fits in seamlessly with any bathroom and tucks away nicely under the toilet without taking up too much extra space.

  • Ease of cleaning. The smooth surface makes it easy-peasy to wipe clean.

Room for growth…

  • Color availability. Not a deal breaker by any means, but if you’re one of the few who’s got a prewar bathroom outfitted with a toilet other than white, and you’re looking for a stool that’ll match your Tushy bidet as well, you’re outta luck.

  • Price. There are other competing toilet stools on the market at a significantly lower price point. But if you’re looking for a specific aesthetic and Tushy ticks that box? We think it’s worth it.

Plays well with…

  • Anyone who could use a little help in the #2 department.

  • Those who already have a Tushy bidet and/or other products from the brand and want a cohesive bathroom look.

How we did our homework...

  • We’ve been using the original Tushy Ottoman regularly for over a year and took into consideration how comfortable it is, how well it serves its purpose, how much space it takes up, and how easy it is to clean.

Footnotes…

  • $74

  • Comes with either white or bamboo legs

  • Available in two heights (9 inches and 7.5 inches)

Tushy Stand

Straight A’s in…

  • Reducing waste. The purchase of a Tushy stand comes with boxes of the brand’s sustainably made 100% unbleached bamboo tissues in plastic-free packaging. They’re dispensed one square at a time, helping to cut down on unnecessary waste.

  • Aesthetics. Like all the Tushy products that came before it, the stand’s design has the brand’s signature minimalist look. So fresh, so clean.

  • Size. Measuring 4.8” W x 7.1” D x 25.4”, it’s quite narrow, so it shouldn’t be difficult to fit in even the smallest bathrooms.

Room for growth…

  • Color availability. The stand is only available in a white-and-bamboo colorway.

  • Compatibility with other toilet tissue. Because of its specific shape, the stand is likely best compatible with boxes of Tushy tissue versus other types.

Plays well with…

  • Anyone who wants to reduce how much toilet paper they use.

  • Those who already have a Tushy bidet and/or other products from the brand and want a cohesive bathroom look.

Gets extra credit for…

  • Coming with eight tissue boxes instead of two for a limited time (aka a $24 value).

  • Being wide enough at the top to store some items on it if you’ve got a particularly tiny bathroom.

How we did our homework…

  • We’ve used the Tushy stand (and its tissues) for nearly a year, noting how easily the tissues are dispensed, how comfortable they are to use, and the general look and feel of the stand in our small bathroom.

Footnotes…

  • $64

  • Extra Tushy tissues are $36/12-pack (or subscribe for a discount)

  • Comes in one colorway
