What I Tested...
Carepod One Plus Humidifier, $350
Why I Tested...

Test Results...
Effectiveness. The brand claims that this stainless steel humidifier provides coverage for up to 500 square feet. After keeping it in our bedroom for over six months, I can confirm it does cover our 12’ by 12’ bedroom. There were a couple of nights over the course of the six months where we didn’t use it, and both my fiancé and myself noticed differences in how we felt, between having red, dry eyes (that’s me), sore throats, and dry noses. We’ve gotten to the point where we really can’t go without it.
Misting power. The mist on this humidifier is visible, but incredibly fine. I love that you can select from three power levels and a timer option. The brand encourages you to elevate the humidifier (on something like a shelf, dresser or table) to ensure that water doesn’t pool on the floor. Definitely be sure to do this. I tested it out both elevated and not, and water did collect on the floor when left at ground level.
Upkeep. How easy it is to care for this humidifier is what makes it worth the price. This is a filter-free humidifier, with a basin made of stainless steel. Because of that, it’s dishwasher-safe or it can be boiled over the stove to disinfect it. We’ve been religiously washing it on the top rack of the dishwasher and have no complaints. Not having to switch out grimy filters has been a star quality of it, too.
Sleek design. The built-in mood light is an added perk rather than a necessity, but we are equally obsessed with it. My fiancé loves to have it on for afternoon naps, or we keep it on while reading or watching TV. It adds a cozy touch to an item that’s typically a utilitarian eyesore.
Price. This humidifier is an investment at $350, but I stand by the fact that it’s worth every penny. You’re investing in something that you’ll never have to replace, plus you won’t be spending monthly on new filters.
Sidenotes...
Another thing the brand claims is that the device will run for up to 30 hours on a single fill. For us, even though the humidifier holds four liters of water, it only lasts for about 12 hours.
Carepod makes a variety of humidifiers depending on your needs and the space you have, including a large-capacity one that provides up to 700 square feet of coverage and one that provides up to 350 square feet of coverage. All of their basins are dishwasher-safe. I’d argue the One Plus is a solid middle-of-the-road option that’s versatile.
