The assignment…

To find a trusty, discreet vibrator that gets the job done. One at a reasonable price point, too. At $49, can Maude’s Vibe fit the bill? PS: Get 15% off with code maude-SKIMM15.

Straight A’s in…

  • Power. I’ve tested a lot of vibrators from various brands. And I’ve gotta say — this mini vibrator is one of the most powerful ones I own. The first speed is enough for me, but it does have three levels if you’re interested in a more intense experience. Sound-wise, it’s average. Yes, you can hear it, but I wouldn’t say it’s particularly noisy.

  • Shape. It’s just a triangle, but it fits perfectly in my hand and is comfortable to hold. The flutter tip provides concentrated power, but if you want to cover more area, you can use the body of the vibrator. There aren’t weird edges, which I particularly love. It’s not cumbersome, heavy, or hard to maneuver.

  • Travel mode. The vibrator arrives in this mode, which means it won’t turn on during transit. To turn off travel mode, hold down the power button for three seconds until you feel two quick pulses. To turn it back on, do the same thing. I love this feature, because if you’ve ever packed a vibrator in a suitcase, you understand the nervous feeling you have as you check your bag.

  • Storage pouch. You’ll receive a mini canvas pouch for storage, which is a plus for bedside tables.

Room for growth…

  • Power button. When using this vibrator with my partner, I sometimes lost track of the tiny power button and struggled to control the settings. I don’t need a gigantic button, but something a bit more substantial would help.

  • Travel mode. Since you turn travel mode on and off the same way, it’s hard to tell when it’s actually on or off. On being two pulses and off being three would make the setting easier to distinguish.

Works best for…

  • Someone looking for a nonintimidating vibrator to bring to bed with their partner.

  • Those new to vibrators, who don’t want or need all the bells and whistles. Just something that works.

  • Anyone who travels often and wants an easy-to-pack device.

How I did my homework…

I’ve owned this vibrator for about six weeks. I’ve used it solo and with my partner. I’ve traveled with it, charged it, and paid special attention to how seamlessly it’s integrated into my sex life. Can it be stored in my bedside table discreetly? Yes. Is it clunky, hard to use, and heavy? No.
