One thing about Interior Designer Mom: She is not a winter gal. So when I told her it was time to share the best spring home decor trends, I’m certain it made her day. This spring, she’s seeing botanical and garden-themed decor everywhere, rattan and wicker mania, and, you guessed it — florals for spring. Groundbreaking.

A decorative tray that’s also practical…
Our first rattan piece is this scalloped-edge tray. It comes in rectangular and square sizes, all of which are large enough to carry drinks out to the backyard or store a book and the remote on. You can get it with or without a glass insert, depending on whether you need a sturdier bottom. ($149+, Pottery Barn)

A rattan chair that brings warmth to any space…
There’s something about bringing nature inside that makes a room feel cozy. This chair will have a similar effect. The dark rattan is elegant, and the high back will make it comfortable to sit in. The cotton seat cushion comes with it. ($368.99, Target)

A stylish doormat for your entryway…
This mat is thin enough to go right inside your entryway without keeping the door from fully swinging open. It’s great for catching any dust, dirt, or pollen and is slip- and water-resistant. It also comes in larger sizes. ($64+, Porte + Hall)

An iron lantern I can’t stop thinking about…
When I was younger my mom had the idea to use a hanging lantern as the light fixture in my bedroom, and I’m still obsessed with it. So you could say I have a thing for lanterns. These iron lanterns with forged leaves at the bottom are a whimsical yet chic way to add a botanical touch to a room. Grab both sizes and style them together for the full effect. ($79+, Pottery Barn)

A fun pair of salad servers…
I never knew I needed salad servers until my mom showed me these. These have an Alice in Wonderland quality about them that I love, since they look like big tulips. They’re made out of durable resin, are big enough to tackle the densest of salads, and come in four unique color combos. ({{dynamicPrice}}, Amazon)

Four floral canvases to hang together…
One of my mom’s major talents is taking a random collection of items –– from artwork to trinkets –– and arranging them into a stylish tableau. Suddenly, each piece makes sense; it’s magic. If you don’t have her well-trained eye, grab a set of artwork to achieve the same look. These are vintage-looking botanical prints that would look great in a living room, office, or kitchen. If you want a true vintage version, try Etsy. ($113.99, Wayfair)

A vintage gardening book for the coffee table…
There’s a reason the restored gardens of Monticello are world-renowned; Thomas Jefferson was an avid gardener, and this book is his horticultural journal. It’s a conversation starter that guests will want to thumb through, and would make a great gift for a gardening enthusiast. ($55, VivingVintage via Etsy)

A rattan bowl that looks more expensive than it is…
This pretty rattan bowl with scalloped edges can be used as a fruit bowl, bread basket, or purely decorative as a centerpiece. The rattan is sturdy and won’t lose its shape, no matter what you’re piling inside. ({{dynamicPrice}}, Amazon)

Earth-toned embroidered pillow covers…
Again, these look way more pricey than they are. They’re embroidered and made of thick cotton canvas. The ombre colors give off a bohemian vibe that’s not too overpowering, according to my mom, who prefers the green. Plus, they’re machine-washable. ({{dynamicPrice}}, Amazon)

Bud vases for just a few flowers…
Every time I come home, my mom puts a few flowers in a bud vase in my room, which I always look forward to. She does the same for guests, and sometimes puts a bud vase at each table setting for dinner parties. These are fun because they’re different sizes and colors, so styling them together gives off a whimsical vibe. She also loves these porcelain ones. ($16+, Anthropologie)

A soft cotton throw to wrap up in…
With hibernation season ending, you’ll want to swap out your faux-fur blankets for more lightweight throws. This one is made of gauzy organic cotton that’ll still be breathable enough for nights sitting on the porch. It’s small enough that you can pack it for a weekend at the beach or stash it in your carry-on. ($49.90, Quince)

A lucite box to grab before it’s gone…
My mom and I recently went shopping at a design store, and I saw a vintage lucite box I loved but didn't buy. I'll be haunted by that choice forever. I’ve been on the hunt to find one since then, and this lucite box — with its tortoise accents and treasure chest design — stopped me in my tracks. Please scoop this unique piece up before I buy it myself. ($60, CopperCollection via Etsy)

A rechargeable table lamp for a pop of color…
Another of my mom's signature design touches is to use table lamps in unexpected places. She’ll put one in a nook of the kitchen, on a bar cart, next to a vanity, or on an outdoor patio. This one is both chic and fun at the same time, has three light settings, and lends a soft glow to any space. ($170, Anthropologie)

A linen duvet cover to transition your bedding…
It’s time to replace flannel sheets with crisper ones and thick quilts with light and airy duvets. If you’ve never slept under a linen duvet in the summertime, I can only describe it as sleeping under a fluffy cloud. It won’t cause you to overheat, and you can use it with or without a top sheet. This one comes in so many pretty colors. ($288.15+, Brooklinen)

An outdoor chair that’s more stylish than most…
This chair is made of steel with a glossy finish that makes it look like a design-y beach chair. It comes with or without arms, and both versions are stackable. The sage green color is particularly appealing. ($149+, Article)

A set of springy taper candles…
I saw one of these brass lion candelabras in a vintage store and it spoke to me so deeply that I knew I had to have it. After doing some research, I found out it was a popular piece for the nobility of Amsterdam, which is the coat of arms it’s holding. Naturally, I’m even more obsessed. My mom suggested balancing the heavy brass with some bright candlesticks, and I love the look. She’s done it again. ($14, Anthropologie)
