Products you buy through our links may earn us a commission. Oh, and if something's out of stock, oops, it was there (and all prices were accurate) at time of publication.

It’s no secret that Old Navy’s resurgence over the last couple of years has been one of the best things for budget-conscious shoppers. Between its collaboration with Anna Sui to its foray into eventwear, the brand has so much to offer. Whether you’re new to the retailer or are a longtime fan, we’re sharing everything you should be buying for spring. And FYI, nothing exceeds $40.

Looking for more affordable, yet stylish ways to revamp your wardrobe this spring? Here’s how to shop at Quince, how to shop for your body type, and the best one-and-done spring outfits.

An oversized sweatshirt with a vintage feel…

This sweatshirt is so versatile, you can wear it with trousers or athleisure. We’re loving the butter yellow shade for spring (the color that’s everywhere, btw), but it comes in tons of other colors, too. It has a baggy, batwing fit along the sleeves and it’s made of Old Navy’s cult-favorite SoSoft fabric.

A blouse that’s a designer dupe…

This Ruffle Collar Button-Down Top looks nearly identical to Dôen’s Henri top. It has a V-neckline with ruffles throughout, and we love that it’s loose without being overly baggy. Pair it with denim for a casual, yet put-together spring look.

Some linen pull-on pants you’ll always reach for…

Linen pull-on pants are some of our editor’s top go-tos for spring and summer. They’re airy, lightweight, and still make us feel like we’re wearing a full outfit (without the discomfort of denim shorts). This pair is made of a linen blend and even comes in petite and tall lengths. We’re eyeing this brown polka-dot pair.

The boatneck version of a bestselling T-shirt…

Our editor always restocks Old Navy’s Snug Cropped T-Shirt when she does a haul from the retailer. It’s a structured, buttery-soft T-shirt that washes well, keeps its shape, and isn’t expensive. For spring, they’ve released this boatneck version, which feels like a more substantial top for going out.

Some high-waisted, wide-leg jeans…

We’ve written extensively about our love for Old Navy’s denim. This extra high-waisted, wide-leg style is perfect baggy, yet structured. Let this pastel pink pair do the talking by wearing it with a white T-shirt and sandals.

A spring version of a denim jacket…

When it comes to florals, we don’t like to go too crazy. This cream oversized denim jacket has more muted florals generously spaced out, making it easier on the eye. To us, this style looks expensive and reminds us of pieces we’d see from Mother Denim, at a fraction of the cost.

A sweater you can wear into summer…

There are so many ways you can wear this gauzy sweater. Buy it in your regular size and wear it with a tank top underneath, or go a few sizes up and treat it as a cover-up. Either way, it’s selling out fast, so stock up while you can. We’re loving its muted color options, from sky blue to rust.

A basic shift dress you can dress up or down…

This cami-style dress is one you’ll want to keep in your closet year-round. You can add heels as a casual wedding guest dress or pair it with flats and a blazer for the office. And if you want to wear it during the colder months, you can add a turtleneck layered on top and stockings underneath. The cost per wear on this $18 dress is basically nonexistent.

A dependable sundress for every situation…

We love to keep a printed midi dress on hand. They’re ideal for the spring days when you don’t know what to wear, but still want to feel put-together. This fit-and-flare style comes in seven colorways, sizes up to 4X, and comes in petite and tall lengths. We’d wear ours with kitten heels to dress it up.

A ribbed button-down they’ll never guess is from Old Navy…

We’ve found yet another Reformation dupe at Old Navy, this time for the brand’s Raelynn Knit Top. We love this one because it has the feel of the soft tee, but looks like a more substantial blouse. Because it’s under $20, we’re buying both the black version and one in a pastel hue.

An activewear top that doesn’t look like activewear…

Don’t forget about Old Navy’s activewear selection. This bubble top is made of a soft, stretchy athleisure material, but because of its trendy silhouette, you can wear it with jeans and it won’t look like you picked the wrong item from your closet. It’s perfect for those weekend errands where you want to look cute (but feel comfortable).

A basic cardigan that’s a closet staple…

A button-up cardigan is a must for year-round wear, whether you prefer it as a top or treat it as an emotional support layer. Made of Old Navy’s SoSoft material, it feels very similar to cashmere, without the weight. Plus, it’s so cheap you can keep one at your desk, in your car, and in a purse.

Another floral midi dress that looks way more expensive than it is…

We never thought we’d say this, but Old Navy is getting florals very right this season. We’re baffled at how expensive this ditsy floral dress looks, between its small print and ruffled neckline. It looks like a mix between Reformation and Dôen, and because of that, we’re calling it now that it’s going to sell out fast. Try it while it’s still in stock.

A ruffle mini skort…

This is a piece we’re buying ahead of summer, when we know we’ll have decision (and heat) fatigue when it comes to getting dressed. This ruffle-waist piece is actually a skort, so you can throw it on and feel comfortable moving around in it. Old Navy also makes a matching cami top, which can turn the look into a matching set. Both are made of a soft crinkle gauze that’s breathable.

A smocked tank top you can wear to the office…

This goes out to anyone who’s looking for more tops that aren’t basic T-shirts. This sleeveless smocked option reminds us of styles we’ve seen at Sézane. It comes in both gingham and lavender options, though we think the gingham version is a little more versatile for everyday wear. Pair it with jeans or trousers.

The tank top our editor buys in bulk…

Once again, Old Navy’s Snug Cropped collection is one you don’t want to miss out on. On top of always being on sale, these styles are made of a thick, ribbed material that keeps its shape. Our editor also loves this tank top version for hot days and she’ll even wear them with a sports bra for longer walks or workouts. The $10 price is unbeatable.
